What should I wear?

Come As You Are—With Reverence and Comfort

We’re so glad you’re joining us. Our hope is that you feel completely at ease and able to focus on the grace of the liturgy—not on what you’re wearing.

In warmer months, you’ll see a range of attire—from sandals and shorts to traditional “Sunday best.” All are welcome. We simply ask that clothing be respectful and modest in spirit. For example, shorts should be of a conservative length, and overall attire should reflect the reverence of our worship space.

Whether you dress casually or formally, your presence is the true gift. We’re grateful you’re here.

How do I get to Our Mother of Perpetual Help?

Our parish is located at 13500 Oak Park Blvd. Oak Park, MI 48237. Here is a map.

Where should I park?

Enter the parking lot from Coolidge Hwy. The parking lot is located on the northside of the church building. There is also limited parking in the circle drive on Oak Park Blvd.

Where do my children go?

At Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish, we cherish the presence of children in our worshiping community. Many remain in with their parents or guardians throughout the liturgy, and we welcome them with open hearts.

We understand that little ones may be wiggly, curious, or vocal—and that’s okay. Their joyful noise is part of the life of the Church. We encourage families to participate fully, knowing that the grace of the Eucharist embraces all ages.

For those moments when a child needs a little extra space or comfort, our Gathering Area is available as a quieting space. Parents are welcome to step there temporarily and return to the pews when ready. The Gathering Area allows families to remain part of the liturgy while tending gently to their child’s needs.

I’m not Catholic, how do I know when to sit, stand and kneel?

There’s no need to be self-conscious about the postures and responses used during worship. Most visitors just follow the lead of the our parishioners. However, we do have hymnals located at each entrance that provide you with the order of the mass, the postures, and the words to each prayer. If you didn't receive a hymnal when you entered, ask one of our parishioners, and they will be happy to bring you one.

Am I expected to put money in the offering?

If you are visiting with us, we don't expect you to put money in the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. If you consider our parish your church home, we'd love for you to prayerfully consider giving to our parish on a weekly basis. You can give by check or cash during the service, or you can sign up for online giving here.

I have mobility challenges - will I be able to get into the church easily?

Absolutely. All entrances to the church are fully accessible, and we’re committed to making sure everyone feels welcome and supported from the moment they arrive. If you need any assistance, our ushers are happy to help.
